So sorry for the weeks of silence! We’re BACK! And so is Dolly!!
So, we spent the last 2 weeks north of Austin in Cedar Park creating a new family: 4 Blewetts, 2 Schultzes and a Privette. Our friend Evan and Tabby opened their home to us for just over 2 weeks while Dolly was in the shop. We created a super family consisting of 5 adults, 2 kiddo’s, 3 dogs and 2 cats.
That sort of communal lifestyle really appeals to me. I love the thought of each adult pitching in and everything working like a well oiled machine! We discussed starting on Commune if/when we all end up back in San Diego. (In other commune news I read about the David Koresh debacle while we drove through Waco and decided that our Govt. and Media acted like a bunch of A-holes!)
No matter where we are in life we have decided that we will spend EVERY March in Austin. We really love the city and the weather in March is truly amazing! We fell in love with Austin in March!
While we were in Cedar Park with our new family, we stayed in the bedroom belonging to our youngest hosts Lily and Lotus, 5 and 3 respectively.
It takes only a moment to fall in love with these 2 little girls. They were sweet enough to share with us their lilac butterfly room with twin beds. It was nice to torange (a word I made up to rhyme with orange meaning forced cuddling) in a twin bed with glow in the dark stars hovering overhead.
We all had a really great time there and made friends for life. Since Evan and Tabby both work all day I thought that a nice way to give back while we were there would be to make dinner every night, so I spend my days there learning and working on my cooking skills. It was very different to be cooking for a family rather than just Matt and I in my Easy-Bake RV oven. I was not the only one who made some really good dinners. Evan made us Puerco Pabil and we watch Once Upon a Time in Mexico (all shot, edited, directed, produced, written by… basically all things done by one man, Robert Rodriguez, who lives in Austin… we should have invited him over). Another wonderful meal was made by Matt. He made us Lumpia and Pancit which was also delicious. BUT the best meal we had there was for our going away dinner when Tabby made a ham. OHMAGAWWWSH!!! This may have been the best ham ever made by anyone –ever! All in all it was a gastronomic delight spending our month in Austin.
When weren’t eating, or sometimes while we ate, we would sit down and watch Big Bang Theory. We started at season 1 episode 1. Matt and I had never heard of this show before and as soon as we had seen a couple episodes we were hooked! We have seen up to the end of season 2 and we have season 3 on my hard drive. (We built the pyramids!)
In other news, our puppy Cali found her first love in their dog Devo. They would lick on each other, lay around together, and run around the back yard till the late hours of the night (well Devo, a Whippet would SPRINT and Cali would try to cut him off somewhere). Once we left Cali did not eat for 3 days and word had it that Devo would not leave his bed. We feel bad for tearing these two lovebirds away from each other, but OTH must go on! They will forever be in love and we will get them together next March.
There was a serious issue with Matt’s poker playing while we were there when the FBI took over several poker websites including the one that Matt had been playing (and winning) on. The account is frozen and for the time being he can’t play. But he thinks he’ll be able to get his money out at some point. In the mean time, he’s forced to find other things to do with his time.
So for now, adios Austin! Till next March when we will ride into your arms again to bask in your perfect March glory.
And Tally Ho! into Allen, TX! I am beyond excited to be spending time with the Tallals. Kristin and her girls, Skylar and Tatum, were all in our wedding.
I love being around them so much because every time we are together it’s like no time has passed at all (except these girls just keep getting bigger and bigger! Stop it!)
On our way through Dallas we experienced another huge storm with a tornado warning and rain storm with the possibility of baseball sized hail. Ideal? No. But at least it’s not as hot as it was in Austin!
Till next time… Tally Ho!
XOXO
Breezy.
PS. Today is Matt and I’s first wedding anniversary! <3 Love you Huno!
I think that every good commune needs “elders”, don’t you? None of you guys qualify, and where else are you going to get all your sage advice and wisdom of the years that you’ll need to pull it off? Me, me, I’ll do it!!!
You are all very lucky to have stumbled into this perfect love fest of friendship, and I know that it will go on forever!
love, Penny
p.s. those girls really are cute, aren’t they?!!!
p.p.s. the first time I went to Austin was in July, and when the airport doors opened to the outside at 11:00 at night I thought I had just entered hell…
Hi Penny!!
You’re in the commune, as long as you bring Donna. :)
We had such a really wonderful time with your son and his family. I’m so glad to have met and been able to be a part of their whole family!
Have you been to Austin in March? If not, that is the time to go!! Maybe we’ll see you there next March. :)
xoxo
B.
Happy anniversary, guys!
Thanks!! :)
Happy Belated Anniversary! I told someone about torange the other day…it really is a classic and ALWAYS gets a laugh.
You guys continue to nail it out there on the road. Keep on.
[…] me start there with our Austin “family”. Each year we spend most of our time with the Blewett’s. They are –follow me here– Matt’s mom Donna’s BFF Penny’s kiddo Evan […]
