Our RV has been named!

Matt said it the other day… I liked it and we decided to try it out for a few days.  Yep, it stuck.  Dolly is officially the name of our RV!!  Hello Dolly!

Allow me to  introduce you.  Dolly is a 24′ Winnebago Minnie with an overhead cab.  This overhead cab is The Presidential Suite, or the guest wing.  Nobody has had the honor of being our first guest in The Presidential Suite yet, so when/if you plan to visit us that is where you will stay. We covered the mattresses up there in our black fabric and I created all of the window treatments in our custom purple, black and zebra print motif. While not being slept in by guests we use this area for storage.  It is also the area that my herbs are now dying in.  So much for growing my own fresh herbs!  Moving on!

Below The Presidential Suite are our drivers seats.  We purchased zebra stripe seat covers (pictured below) to tie into the rest of the house.  This used to be where Cali slept at night until I cleaned them off and blocked them off for good.  To substitute we may have to get them some small dog beds.  Not sure of that yet.  Moving on!

Going from the driving seat  into the Living Room you will notice that we have reupholstered the chairs at the dining table.  (You may also notice that the Capitan’s chair in the first photo has not been reupholstered since that is out of my range of capabilities.)  I love the darker fabric since all of our walls and ceiling are white.  We further personalized Dolly by “hanging” some wedding photo’s in our living room.  These were hung using 3M’s Picture Hanging Strips.

Throughout we have black area rugs.  These serve 3 purposes: 1. to keep our feet warm 2. to act as dog beds and 3. to collect the “moose” water that falls from the dogs mouths when they are done drinking.  Because we wanted to have a softer place for the dogs to lay we opted for Bed Bath and Beyonds Memory Foam Bath Mat.  Not only are these wonderfully soft to walk (or lay) on, but they also are super absorbant and dry faster than normal bath mats –great news if your home can take turns at 30mph.

You will also notice that in the Living Room all of the window treatments have been updated to match our home.  We left the shades as they were but covered the “frames”.  Moving on!

Taking one step past our front door, and you will be in our kitchen.  Since the last time I cooked on a regular basis (until moving in to Dolly) was in an Easy Bake Oven at the age of 8 I am quite at home with this teensy tiny oven.  And 3 small burners suite me as well.  Above our oven and range is the microwave.  We have not used a microwave for about 4 years since I fear their micro-waves, but having one in here has been quite convenient.  Next to our microwave is one of the cupboards that we have for food and dishes storage.  The other is across the room above our dining room table/office.  I use the one above the table as a pantry and the one next to the microwave as storage for dishes and spices.

I really love our fridge in Dolly, it is just my size.  My issue with regular fridges is that they food items seem to crawl to the back and die, never to be found.  This fridge is not like that at all; it is very 2 dimensional. You can see everything in it.  Also there is not a chance of overfilling it so we have only wasted MAYBE $10 in food over the last 2 months!!  Moving on!

At the rear of our home is the Master bed and bath.  Our bedroom has 1 closet and 3 cupboards for clothing.  Naturally, being a bigger person, I have 2 cupboards and Matt has 1.  ;) We “share” the closet.

Matt’s mom wrote the most wonderful poem for us for our wedding, I had that framed and we hung that over our bed.  Speaking of our bed, IT IS THE MOST COMFORTABLE BED EVER!!  We covered the RV Queen mattress with a Costco Memory Foam (that we cut down to size).  We cover that with our “Lindsey Sheets” (so named because of the person who discovered them).  Then I made a douvet cover out of our crushed purple velvet and zebra striped felt.  Tossed on some zebra striped pillows and BAM!  70’s porn bedroom!  Not quite what I was going for –but we love it!  Moving on!

Other than our front door, the only other door in our house is the door that hides our shower and toilet area.  This is also where we keep our laundry hamper.  Just outside of that door is the bathroom sink and vanity with the medicine cabinet/mirror.  The bedroom and bath area can be separated from the rest of the house by a thick, custom, black and purple room divider.  I made sure that this divider was a black out curtain so that we could have a pitch black room if we wanted.  Moving on!

Some of the final tweaks that we put on Dolly before taking off were to install the MaxxAir RV fan to the air vent in the Presidential Suite.  This fan is wonderful because it will allow us to keep our vents open even if it is raining and also will allow for circulation of our air.  I’m very excited for this.  Watch for a future post on Matt’s instillation of this.

Allrighty.  Well, thanks for stopping by.  It was great to have you along for the tour of our mobile castle.  We hope you have enjoyed it.

xoxo

Breezy “Cribs” Schultz.

** When Matt said “Dolly” I liked it because I thought “yeah, a sweet southern girl with a large rack!” However, when Matt saw a now deleted part of this post where I compare her to Dolly Parton and he literally gagged!  He said that he was thinking more of Doyle Brunson “Texas Dolly”.  While Doyle may be my second favorite poker player, I would never never never name a clearly female vehicle after a man in his 80’s.  To each our own!  :)
